Eye Center Optical, a division of Eye Center Northeast, is owned and operated by Jean H. Tibbetts, M.D., David T. Douglass, O.D. Our optical shop opened on September 12, 2005 to serve the eyewear needs of our many valued patients and the surrounding communities. Our optical dispensary has a vast inventory of over 600 frames on display. We carry Liz Claiborne, Nine West, Bellagio, Tommy Hilfiger, and many more. We also carry prescription and non-prescription sunglasses including Maui Jim, Bolle and sports eyewear. If you are looking for a particular frame or product, and we do not carry it, we can usually have a sample sent for you within 3-5 business days. If you decide not to purchase the frame or product, we will simply return it to the manufacturer/vendor at no cost to you.

Staffing

Our certified licensed Optician, Kay, has over 26 years of experience selecting, fitting, ordering, dispensing and repairing eyewear that best suits the client’s particular style and budget. At Eye Center Optical, our service doesn’t stop at the completion of a sale. If you are unhappy or dissatisfied with your purchase, or your eyewear requires some minor adjustments and/or repairs, simply stop by the optical dispensary during normal business hours and one of our Opticians will promptly assist you with your request.
All of our eyewear comes with a one-year warranty for repair and/or replacement. We welcome you to stop by and experience the difference quality and personal service can make.

     You can contact us by phone anytime at (207) 942-1947 and, if necessary, leave a message, and one of our staff members will promptly return your call during normal business hours. We will promptly respond to your inquiry and/or question by the next business day.

Insurance/Billing

     All purchases require a fifty percent (50%) down payment at the time of your order with the remaining balance due upon receipt of the finished item(s). Other payment arrangements may be possible by speaking with one of our staff members in advance. Once you have paid for the item(s) in full, we will be happy to complete and submit the necessary paperwork to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. For your convenience, we accept VISA, MasterCard, Discover, and Debit Cards.

Service

We accept all Doctor’s prescriptions and offer same day service on most single vision prescriptions. Our high tech optical lab and licensed certified Optician can complete most optical jobs within 3 days. Once your eyewear is ready for pick up, one of our staff members will contact you to arrange a convenient time for you to stop by and pick up your item(s). Once you have inspected the finished product(s), and any minor adjustments have been made to your specifications, the warranty will be in effect for one full year beyond the purchase date.

Optician Biographies

Kay Douglass, ABOC; Kay graduated from Ferris State University in Michigan with a degree in ophthalmic dispensing. She received her optical license in 1980. While in Michigan and then in Maine, Kay has worked as an optician, manager, and instructor for various optical firms and practices for more than 26 years.
